I had read some really good things about Connie's online. I wanted to try it. On my way from my hotel to Lou Malnati's during lunch, I walked right by Connie's. So it was close and I knew where it was so it just made sense. Especially since it was starting to rain. I didn't want to venture out too far.
When I back to the hotel, I opened the box and this is what I had...
I was actually kinda disappointed when I saw it. But I figured, I haven't met too many pizzas I didn't like, so I figured I would give it a try with a open mind. So I cut into it.
So it turns out there was red sauce inside (for which I'm grateful). Man this pizza was so cheesy. The sausage was nicely flavored. The one thing I'm figuring out really quick is that these Chicago guys really know how to make crust. The dough was perfect. I actually wasn't that hungry when I brought in the pizza, but there wasn't a crumb left when I was done.
So I survived the "Day of Pizza". Although, I just realized, I never had a dessert pizza. I know Lou Malnati's had a cookie pizza. Well maybe not, I don't want to get out again. I'm tired. Maybe later this week.
