I had Campisi's breakfast pizza this morning. Now I'm in Chicago. I decided on Lou Malnati's for lunch
It was a little nicer place than what I thought it might be. I arrived about 1:45 which was perfect. They had a lunch special that ended at 2.
The lunch special had a deep dish pizza (personal size), salad or soup, and a drink for $8.75. A really good deal. So I went with the Sausage pizza, salad, and ice tea.
The salad was a very good salad. No simply lettuce and dressing like some places bring out.
After I ate the salad, it was just a few minutes until the pizza came out. I assume since they only offer the lunch special in pepperoni or sausage, they have them already cooking so it doesn't take the full 30 minutes to get the pizza cooked.
Oh my goodness, was this pizza awesome. The crust was perfect. Lots of cheese. Spicy sauce. And the sausage had a great flavor. Not too hot, but very spicy.
The crust had a very buttery flavor (which I love) and was just the perfect crispness. There was still a little bit of gooey dough. I had to eat the first half with a fork and knife. Mainly because it was so hot. But after it cooled a little, the crust was crisp enough that I could pick it up with my hands. The cheese was also very good. A little bit of stringiness. Good overall flavor.
I'm now trying to decide where to go for dinner (supper). I'm thinking maybe Connie's pizza. I always love Giordano's, but I want to try something different. I've also had someone at work recommend Beggar's pizza. So I may try that at some point this week.
There should be another post coming at some point tonight. Of course, I'm not hungry yet.
