Subway of Pizza - Pie Five

So in my first ever post, I mentioned that I was doing a taste test for Pie Five.  Well part of that invite, was I would get a coupon for a free pie on completion of the survey.

So a bit ago, I went back to Pie Five to get my free pizza.

If you've never been to one, it is pretty much like a Subway.  You wait in line.  Give them your order.  There are quite a few pre-conceived pizza ideas.  But you can always create your own.  Even if you pick a pre-conceived one, you can add/remove/change most things on the pizza.

First you pick your crust (Pan or artesian thin.)  I've always gotten pan before, but on this day, I went for the thin.  So it is my understanding, Pie Five is from the same parent company that owned Pizza Inn.  So I've always been hoping their pan was like the old Pizza Inn pan.  But it isn't.  But it's good.  I just wanted to try the thin...

Anyway, you pick your sauce (unless you want a pre-designed pizza).  I think this was the Five Star.  Or the High Five.  Heck I don't know.  They all looked good.

Normally at Pie Five I always add pineapple to my pizza, but I forgot to ask about it.  By the time you give them all the instructions, they make the pizza as you watch and stick it in the oven.  Then by the time you get to the register (or shortly afterwards) it is ready for you.

The pizza isn't huge.  But it is just about right for me. In fact, I've noticed that it is a little much if I get a salad also.  So I just stuck with the pizza.

Here's a close up of a slice.  Really good.  And now I'm getting hungry as I'm typing this.

Here you can see the cheese is a little stringy.  Not bad.  But just to give a little chew.  I guess I forgot to take a picture of the bottom of the crust.  But has a nice cracker type texture (which I love).  I don't like the entire crust to be like a cracker.  Just the very edge.  Then I like a little check in the remainder of the crust.

If there's a Pie Five by you check it out.  If not, I'm sure there will be soon.  They are really starting to expand.
