Arrived. Took a seat and ordered a pizza. Had to go with the deep dish. I have to say I was actually expecting it to be stuffed, but I would be more than willing to give their deep dish a try. So after about 40 minutes, the pizza arrived:So I will immediately say, I think this is the best pizza I've ever eaten. I ordered the supreme. So, as I said, this isn't stuffed, but same principle. Sauce on top.
But the thing that set this pizza apart from every other pizza I've had was the crust. It was crisp, but no hard. I had read somewhere that people thought there was corn meal and not just flour on their dough. I can't guarantee this, but it sounds about right. My guess is that it is flour dough, but pressed into corn meal before topping and cooking. Either way, the crust was incredible. I saw on a review that someone called it cornbread. Not sure where they were from, but this wasn't cornbread. But it was the best crust I had ever had. The only think about this pizza I didn't totally like was the onions. This is weird, because I love onions. But they were just in a weird state. Somewhere between raw and caramelized. Anyway, nothing too bad. Just not my favorite.
I will be back to Gino's East. I was even move excited when I realized there were Gino's East in Houston and San Antonio. So I guess there is hope for the Dallas area. How about Frisco?
