MOD Pizza - McKinney

A new place opened down the road from house.  MOD Pizza in McKinney.

My wife and I stopped by to try it out.

Overall the pizza was great.  I will definitely be going back again.  Unfortunately, we went a couple of days after they opened.  My wife ordered a gluten free pizza.  I didn't get a pic because it took forever, then it was wrong.  So they redid it.  Well it came out wrong again.  She just kept it this time.  Turns out she really liked it, but she never got one with the toppings she asked for.  First time they used the wrong cheese (they said they were out of the one that went with the pizza, but never told us that until we got the pizza).  The second time they forgot to put the meat on the pizza and over cooked it.   I love crunchy crust, but this was almost impossible to bite through.  Again all is forgiven, they had just opened.  I'll be back (in my Arnold voice).

BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse

The wife and I went to BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse a few weeks ago.  I had been years ago and had their pizza.  But I was anxious to try it again.

I ordered their small (actually a mini I think) of their Hawaiian pizza.

The pizza was very good.  I love the sweetness of pineapple on my pizza.

Lazy Dog - Plano

Well it is football season again.  Although my son graduated and isn't playing football any more, my daughter is still in the marching band.  So we are pretty busy on Fridays and Saturdays.  But this week we had a bye.  So the wife and I decided to have a date night.  We went to Lazy Dog in Plano.  We've been there a few times, but I had never tried their pizza.  I always planned on it, but I always talked myself into something else when I got there.  But this time I was determined.

I was kinda surprised they only had 3 options for pizza (4 if you count adding Pepperoni to the 3-cheese pizza).

I ended up going with the Black and Blue.  It was: cajun chicken breast, smoked bacon, mozzarella, caramelized onions, blue cheese, green onions, tomatoes.  It was around $14.  I almost didn't get it.  I'm not a huge fan of Blue Cheese, but since it also listed mozzarella, I figured maybe the blue cheese wouldn't be too bad.

I'm so glad I decided to get this pizza.  It was very large.  I was barely able to eat half of it.  The flavor of the bacon was spectacular.  The taste of the blue cheese just added so much.  I can't really explain how, but it made it so good.

Like I said I was barely able to eat half of it.  I took the rest home and had it for Breakfast Saturday morning.  I just couldn't get over how much I liked the bacon taste on that pizza.

I kept looking back into the kitchen to see if they had a wood fired pizza oven or gas over or what.  But I was never able to see it.  But either way, not I'm wanting to try the rest of their pizzas...

Cidercade Dallas - Another Visit

It had been a while since my first visit to Cidercade in Dallas.  It was my birthday and my wife and kids were asking what I wanted to do for my birthday.  I told them I wanted to go to Cidercade and play a few games of pinball.

Man was I shocked.  Last time I was here they only had the single line of pinballs...

But now, they added a completely separate line of pinballs...  I was presently shocked.

They also have a nice patio area.  We spent some time playing the little ring on the hook game (no idea what it is called).

Almost all of the games were in great shape.  The only exception was, Wizard of Oz was OOO and powered off.  I was looking forward to playing it.

We also spent some time playing 4 player PacMan Battle Royale.

We also got to play Killer Queen which was a lot of fun.  I'm thinking about taking my work team down there for a team builder.

Mellow Mushroom - McKinney

We met some friends the other evening for dinner.  Someone in the group suggested Mellow Mushroom in the Square in McKinney.  I hadn't been, so I was very excited.

I love the inside of the place.  Cool graphics.  lots of things made out of been kegs.

We ended up getting their house special pizza on Gluten free crust.  My wife eats Gluten Free.  It was one of the best Gluten Free crusts I've ever had.  The bacon was a great taste on the pizza.

It wasn't at all packed for a Saturday night.  But it was super hot outside, so I'm sure most people just stayed in their houses.

Even the entrance to the restrooms had a clever name.

It was my first time here.  But it will not be my last.

Pinball Slot Machines

I was at a conference in Vegas this past week.  Of course they zig zag you through the casino to get to the conference floor.  I noticed a few pinball based slot machines.  I had never seen them before.

Here's a couple of pics.

Cidercade - Dallas, TX

I had noticed a new place (bar/arcade) I wanted to check out.  I had seen it on Facebook and saw quite a few pinball machines.  Luckily, it was very close to work (a little over 2 hours away).  So I payed them a visit during lunch.  Now since I'm heading back to work, no cider was involved; just pinball...

Remember you can buy your own games and have them shipped to your house:
Cocktail-Arcade-Machine-Classic-Games
Tabletop/Bartop Arcade Machine With 412 Games
Stern Pinball Game of Thrones Pro Edition Arcade Pinball Machine
Stern Pinball Aerosmith Pro Arcade Pinball Machine

I didn't take a picture of the outside of the place, but I drive right past it the first time around.  I had to U-Turn and come back and even then it was kinda hard to find.

This place doesn't open until noon, so it is kinda a late lunch, but it works.  It is $10 plus tax (and tip if you are inclined) to get in.  Then all the video games and pinball games are on free-play.

I'll post all the pinball pictures first, then the video games...

They had a few Jersey Jack pinball games.  I really like Dialed in.  That one was a blast to play.

Here's some of the video games they had:

This was my first time at Cidercade, but it won't be my last.  Lots of fun on really well maintained machines.
